Hampshire Fire Protection Co., a member of the American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA), is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) to donate the design and installation of a lifesaving fire sprinkler system in the home of Army CPL Paul Hedge in Tuftonboro, NH.
The American Fire Sprinkler Association is the exclusive fire sprinkler system provider for Homes For Our Troops.
Homes For Our Troop’s mission is to build and donate specially adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans to enable them to rebuild their lives. Since its inception in 2004, HFOT has built over 400 homes nationwide.
A Fire Sprinkler System will be installed in any home where required by law or in any home where the future homeowner requests fire sprinklers. This partnership provides a robust safety addition to the already highly customized homes that HFOT provides to veterans.
Every year, nearly 4,000 Americans lose their lives in home fires, and 25,000 are injured. The risk is even higher for individuals with physical, mental, or sensory disabilities, including many veterans. Through our partnership with the American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA), Hampshire Fire Protection is helping protect veterans in their homes, where nearly 80% of fire-related deaths occur. Installing a residential fire sprinkler system can reduce the risk of death from home fires by up to 81%, providing life-saving protection where it matters most.
HFOT is a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes. These homes restore some of the freedom and independence to veterans who sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives.

Paul's Story
After being medically retired from the Army, Paul found a new purpose through music and fitness. He enjoys playing guitar and staying active alongside his partner, Hannah. However, their current condominium was never designed with accessibility in mind. Multiple stairways and tight spaces make everyday tasks challenging and unsafe.
A specially adapted HFOT home would remove these barriers—giving Paul the freedom, safety, and independence he deserves. “It would be a tremendous relief to feel like I have a home,” he says. “For over a decade, I’ve been putting everything off until I have a place where I’m not hindered by my injuries.”
The following generous manufacturers and suppliers donated:
“Thank you so much for caring about injured Veterans. A lot of us are struggling and not asking for help. It’s truly heartwarming and reassuring to know that people want to help provide us with what we need.”
